Chateau St. Julien, rural France

Bonjour!!

Yup!! You guessed it! I am now in France. In rural France to be exact. I forgot what is the exact name of this village but we are staying in this gigantic, cozy, antiques but renovated ancient castle called Chateau St. Julien. It’s our accommodation for the whole weekends as well as the reception venue of the wedding of my lovely friend Wellena and her French husband Nico. In fact this is actually Nico’s village where his parents live.

We’ve been staying in this chateau since 2 days ago. I’m loving every little corner of it. It looked spooky on the first sight but once inside, I’m amazed at everything that it offers. There are a total of seven rooms in this chateau that accommodates 15 occupancy but honestly it could fit 50 people. And I am now in a big room for the single travelers with 4 beds but I myself is not sleeping here. I am here just to suck some wifi cos it’s stronger here. Hehehe….. I sleep in a double room with my other girl friend, Cell.

We landed Paris after a rough 12 hours flight from KL on 19th early morning Paris time. There wer four of us from Malaysia. Me, Cell (the bridesmaid), Nick (the imported wedding photographer) and Azra ( the only one from KL). I believe everyone in the flight were not expecting the weather can be so cold when the Captain announce the temperature outside. It was 6 degree!!! Oh my gucci!! I thought I is Spring already?! In fact even the couple weren’t expecting the weather can be this so freaking cold that’s why they chose Spring Wedding at the first place.

So, we took a train to the main train station to this village. We still had plenty of time before our scheduled train to depart. Darn! The weather was so freakingly cold that all we wanted to do is to seat in a cafe and eat to keep us warm (from the heater). Gosh! This isn’t Spring. This is still Winter!! Maybe even colder than winter in Melbourne and Taipei the last time I went there. Now I am so glad that I brought my thick sweater apart from my trusted leather jacket. And my thermal sleeping long johns. Thank goodness!!

We took another 4 hours ride of train to reach the village and another 30 minutes to reach this majestic chateau. Apparently this chateau is up for rental for events such as weddings, workshops etc. The weather is very unpredictable, it can rain or drizzle for 15 mins and then stop and sun comes out and then half an hour later it rains again and repeat pattern for 100 times. So u tell me la, how to go out further? When every time after few shots of photos, we have to run back into the chateau whenever it started to rain 😦 and the fireplace never stop burning. It has been the favorite spot for everyone to get warm. Khaleena just arrived from Scotland yesterday and we did tried to walk a little further and the same thing happened. We had to run back again. grrrr!!

There are so much I wanted to write down. But the time is limited now. The wedding is today!! Yay!! And will start in another 6 hours at a church an hour drive from here. Yeah…. Everything is far here. But the bus is coming to pick us up at 12.30pm. So I need to get ready now. the reception will be at 8.30pm tonight. But over here, the sun sets at 8.30-9pm. They have longer day time here πŸ™‚

I dont know how we all can stand the cold and chill with our dress later but for vanity we’ll brave ourselves.

I cannot wait for the wedding. The theme is ‘vintage’. So I’m going to shower now.

To Wel and Nico, enjoy your special day! And just have fun and don’t stop falling in love to each other over and over again. And million thanks for keeping me in this beautiful place and feed me so well that I think I’ve gain weigh just within these two days.

Be blessed always!

Wedding: Beng & Nelly

Beng and Nelly got married December last year. I dint know Nelly but i definitely know the Ling family (Beng’s family). Beng’s sister, S.Lee, is my ex-classmate and their father used to be my Math teacher in secondary school. Beng or Ah Beng as we usually call him, is a robust, funny, loud and out going character. he owned his own little kopitiam business where friends and family gather to catch up or just simply update latest gossip. Nelly is a kind and soft-spoken girl. she teaches special students. with that i take my hat off *salute*. S.Lee contacted me that they needed a photographer to document their special day. after checking with my own schedule, no clash, i immediately agreed! and wah-lah!!! here are some of my fav shots of the day. and their wedding marked my last wedding of 2010. but it was my first time shooting wedding at my small little hometown where people are more skeptical than encouraging. *kancheong*

we started early in the morning. Nelly wore a bright red chinese traditional costume for the day. and she has a very pretty shoes that i so tempted to steal it.

Irene β™₯ Jeff : Wedding [12.06.2010] part 2

since i came late that morning and missed their prep session so i made it up by coming early for their reception prep session. ok. i was a tad bit excited cos i reached earlier than the couple at the bridal shop :p and mannn!! what was it with the date?!! there were so many weddings that day. at the bridal studio itself, there were 4 couples lining up for make ups. jeff and irene were the 2nd couple.

let’s see some photos.

make up tools every girls love πŸ™‚

random shot. so many falsies.... :p

all set and ready...

once we left the bridal studio we still have ample time before the event begin. so we camped in their suite while i took the opportunity to shoot some more photos of the two of them. but at that time they were still bugged by table arrangement for last minute confirmed attendance. poor couple! *sigh*

still working on table arrangement..... screw those last minute confirmed guests lah!!

i asked them to relax. it’s their big day. they were not suppose to be so tense about the arrangement especially NOW!!! and they obliged. and they had fun πŸ™‚ or did they?! or was it only me?! anyhoo here are some of the takes….

still have time for some light moment πŸ™‚

bring it on Irene.

oh she really pulled it off, didnt she?!

all tied up!

jeff, thanks for being such a sport!! irene is one lucky girl πŸ™‚

meanwhile, downstair most of the guests have arrived. my mom was among the late coming guests *rolls eyes* and as guests keep coming in the gifts were piling up too.

gifts

Irene's Parents. Mr. & Mdm. Igat. hi uncle! hi aunty!

cake cutting

cake feeding :p

reflection

surely the elderly were proud of this moment....

bows of love :p

mother daugther small talk *love*

then it’s time for the 2nd outfit.

this is what girl friends are for.... *love*

mag’s hands were not only helpful but also NAUGHTY!!! she cupped irene’s breasts in her palms!!! HAHA!!!

then they walked in for the 2nd time for toasting time.

not bad, jeff!! look at irene... she was hiding her face. LOL~~

let the blessing never cease to flow...

as the wine gets better each passing year, may your adoration to each other gets deeper each passing days....

linked and cheers!!

some of the guests

school friends....

and then it came to the gift exchange ceremony. it was simple yet interesting. jeff is a bisaya while irene herself is a mixed of lun bawang and iban. the following is from her lun bawang side of gifts. and these gifts are only given / seen during wedding. sets of rong (a type of conned-shape hat) and tayen (a kind of basket where some more gifts are placed inside). both are made of some kind of rattan. this set of gift is for each groom’s family member. long time ago, according to my grandparents the more set of these given from the bride means the higher the status of the family. means even uncles, aunties and cousins will get one set. but now less and less ppl do that laa…

traditional lun bawang gifts... rong and tayen....

gifts from her iban side.

some performances. the children didnt want to miss it out too....

candid

i may be biased here cos this is the only group photo that i put because ther's me in it!!! dont hate :p

and that’s a wrap of the night but… i wanna leave you with these.

and now it is legal to make baby… hehe….

happy making babies you two!!! :p

to le’ and jeff, thanks so much from the bottom of my soul for entrusting me to document your special day. it was an absolute honour!! you two were just gorgeous and a breeze to work with. thanks for being such a trooper towards my craziness and shamelessness from beginning until the production of the album. i wish nothing but everlasting love and overflowing blessings for the two of you. and as you look back to these photos in many2 years to come you will still remember the essence of the moment as what it was on that day. God bless always and again, congratulations you two!!!!

Irene β™₯ Jeff : Wedding [12.06.2010] part 1

let me tell you a little bit about irene that u dont know and maybe she doesn’t even remember herself. *whisper* i knew her since we were little maybe like 9 or 10. yeah. i remember her being her aunt’s flowergirl when we attended her aunt’s wedding in PuruSia. haha!! one thing about me. i remember faces!! so beware!! i bet very rare ppl remember that day. but oh well, that’s a milion years ago…. then when they moved to marudi we became friends and of course family friends. our moms speak the same language. our fathers work at the same workplace. the hospital!! and we attended the same secondary school. so when irene sent me an sms and a message on fb about being her photog for her wedding two months before the big day i was thrilled!! another reason to go back!! and i was curious to see the groom :p cos i never seen this guy before and have totally no hint about who he is. i checked on my calendar and found that i didnt have any business (personal / work) that coincidental to her wedding date. so my trip back was totally for her wedding alone. so i’ve booked my tix earlier to lock my date. and…. disaster happened last minute!! u see… the wedding was on a saturday so it is normal for me to take a friday night flight, right?! guess what?! the flight was cancelled!!! yes! the freaking flight has to be cancelled due to… wait for it… a flat tryes!! kns!! they thought they could fix it so we were ok when they announced the delay and at the end i guess they just couldnd fix it so they just had to cancel the flight. of course there was compensation of a free stay at a resort hotel but no thanks for me. the resort. is a haunted one!! ok enough of me babbling irrelevant matter here. let’s look at photos πŸ™‚

since i was late so these are the only few things i managed to take during their prep time. errr… not axactly prep time la cos they were all set and done when i arrived *shy*

the rings

love the details on the chest :p

helping hands

and from my mom conversation while i was snapping away, i learned that jeff is a bisaya and a teacher.

here come the groom πŸ™‚

chaos before march in

one day when it’s time, a father will have to let her daughter go….. go into the embrance of a man that will love and protect her just the same as the first time he held her in his arms many years ago when she first taste the air of this world….

attentive

look at those little feet up there....

looked on....

little cute bow

the youngest of them all..... i wanna bite her!

the first man in her life.... and today he's giving her away.... to another man who'll love her unconditionally as he has been.... *sob*

i think i heard their heartbeats this time. LOUD!

vows

and after nine long years of relationship, it finally came down to this moment….. *tears of joy*

bonded.....

and sealed with a kiss

legally man and wife now

he wants to see too πŸ™‚

the entourage :p

words and songs

kelupis. lun bawang traditional food/ desserts

by the arch

joy in their faces πŸ™‚

'we are married!!!'

when it was the parents’ turn to wish the couple, the emotion started to get thick. it was emotional. through their embrances you can see the pure acceptance of irene’s parents toward jeff. it spelled UNCONDITIONAL. just like their own son. ya. jeff was the one who teared first. i could feel a lump inside my throath this time. oh wait, even now when i think back of that moment i feel like crying too…. *wipe tears*

emotion was getting thick here....

irene and her mummy πŸ™‚ i knew irene was trying her best not to break down here. it was hard i tell you i could have cried myself T__T

and finally the watertank just couldnt hold it anymore. tears came streaming down.... *emo*

and u might wonder how come there’s no picture of jeff and the father-in-law. here’s why. actually it was the first of the above series but it was too emo that time that my eyes blurred and things went too fast and everything was a blurry mess T___T they are his parents now….. if u know what i mean…. *hint* there’s no photos of jeff parents….. T___T

after nine long years..... they are now husband and wife! πŸ™‚

and that’s for the morning session. stay tune for the reception session next.

be blessed, ppl!

Alvin β™₯ Yee Fei: Wedding [23.01.2010]

fei as we used to call her is one of those type of girls whose charm or aura could immediately be felt when she’s in a crowd. not because of her cute memorable face but because she speaks her voice out. loud. and to the point. we first met during lecture, we found out we stayed just next to each other’s college (owh btw college here refers to our hostel) and then that made it easier for us to become team members for every group assignments. of course not to forget the darling. i remember once during our presentation we decided to wear all whites. sampat. i know. i so wanted to post the photos but let just keep that for another day. we were travel companion for our little trip to HK few years back. she made my dream possible to go see the HK Disneyland. and ohya, how can i forgot she even came all the way to miri and even set foot to the good old marudi. haha! she sure loves travelling very much. that girl.

i can blab all i want about us but not her and alvin. because i can. and because i only met alvin once before their wedding. so how much can i say about him? all i knew they were working in the same firm. cupid played his role and wah-lah love bloomed and relationship evoled.and boy oh boy…. is he kind and sweet? 110% yes! is he loving and gentleman. indeed! and does he send her home safe till the door step and greet the parents. checked! and the best thing is he said ‘YES MA’AM’ to fei. LOL!! he sure has some kind of humour. that guy.

of course i wasnt the OP for their prestigious wedding. but since i brought labo everywhere i go i dont want to miss documenting my gf’s most memorable day for my own momentos so why not? here goes some of them.

#20

ohayou gozaimasu~~

the one on far right is a swedish who resides in japan for many years already in case you are wondering why the look like that :p and we found out her name is noella a girl version of noel. LOL!! we have both of them at our table that night, noel and noella πŸ˜€

some more….

#21

clockwise: hand fan (so cute!), pocket in the sleeves (can put everything inside), the hand fan now tucked in the err... belt?!, scarlet playing with japanese uber colourful videocam.

info: the clothes the ladies were wearing are called yukata NOT kimono ok. yukata is a summer cotton kimono worn during summer in japan. since malaysia summer all year round so maybe that’s why they wore that. and a real kimono is made of pure silk. very expensive!

the elder woman (forgot her name T___T) brought also a hand-held fan that was tucked in her aiya.. what is that called? a belt?! and she wore a real geta sandals! so cute!!!

we learned some of their customs and vice versa and one thing that i remember is that in japanese weddings, the arrangement of wedding tables are (from nearest to the couple table) friends, colleagues, relatives then families. unlike us in malaysia in the other way round. the reason is that we dont see friends all of the time. while families and relatives can meet every now and then during big day. and colleagues no need to explain lah we see them 5-6 days a week! haha!! well, that’s what i learned from. at least i left with ilmu pengetahuan *proud*

so here some more :p

anastar is a sweet and hardworking girl. that’s all i know. i dont know about ramli but i am confident that those are among the traits that has melted his young heart 9 years ago before they finally tied the knot. i was a little nervous and couldnt believe what i hear when anastar called me up asking for favor to photograph their wedding.

ramli was based in penang so i never met him prior the wedding. i felt a little awkward at first. but god bless his funny self he never fail to lightened up the atmosphere with his funny jokes. oopsss!! i laughed the loudest. i think. *shy* and i immediately like this guy. owh… no wonder anastar fell over heels on him.

i cant say enough ‘thank you’ for the both of you for believing in me to capture your wedding day. thanks for being such a sport for all my quirky requests.

Jonathan β™₯ Wendy : Wedding [27.11.09]

back in uni, during the orientation week i confused her with another beauty, Irene. cos their features were almost similar that my eyes and mind cannot collaborate well to diffrentiate both of them.

our first conversation was during our walk to Dectar for choir practice during that orientation week. we (i) chose to sing in choir to avoid the Larian Hijau (running around the uni) cos i am not a sporty girl like that. then, from staying in the same college to singing in the same choir club to studying in the same faculty to joining the same christian fellowship to going to the same dinners to going for choir trip togehter we basically see a lot of each other and immediately she become one of my good good collegemate from Kolej Dato’ Onn and my good fren from Penang πŸ™‚

she’s one of the leanest girl i’ve seen. really. where most of my friends hide away from the sun to get fair skin but this girl just love to add more tan on herself despite being a Tan already…. geddit? geddit? Wendy Tan?!

as far as i remember, she remained single throughout uni years although i heard quite a number of guys had a crush on her (that includes my coursemates. haha!) so i was just so excited when i saw the status changed on her FB :p ngeh… ngeh… ngeh… and when she asked whether i would be able to attend the wedding, i just simply said yes without checking my schedule cos she darn smart informed million years before so the return tix that i got to Penang were all on promo ones :p

well, i cant say much about Jonathan though cos i never meet him until the wedding day itself. but, my oh my… Wendy u really got class!! Jonathan sure is a husband that every parents and pastors and our good God would have agreed of for a daugther…. and owh, did he just sang the most beautiful song?! Yes!! and he CAN SING!! tsk! so terharu… T___T it was one of the best wedding i’ve ever been for a long time.

aihh… before i go on ranting lets just look at photos. i wasnt the official photog of course. but this wedding sure won The Most DSLR Photogs In a Church Wedding i’ve even been to. there were 11 of us if not mistaken. yes. i very k-po. i counted :p

Brian β™₯ Juncy : Wedding [26.09.09] – part 1

that day i received that unexpected call from Estella one of my church friend. informing me that i was invited for the sister’s wedding. and the wedding would be the next day. and i was goin to photograph the event. huh?!! still trying to sip in the info the first thing that swirled into my mind was an external flash!!! i need a SB flash!!! huhuhu…. alas the only thing that i could do was by posting my desperate call on FB (again!) though i didnt get one but i still wanna thanks jane for her effort for trying to help out. what to do geng, we are separated by such a big ocean!! hisk!!!!

nonetheless, i tried to make do with what i have. survival style! (konon). not that i know how to operate a SB flash if i got it in such a short notice pun. the wedding was held in Grand Palace Hotel, Miri. i went for their prep session and reached early to take some private shots before they march into the hall.

ok, i knew Estella and his bro. Davis first before juncy. this is because Juncy was the quite and reserve one. and i didnt believe they were actually siblings cos Juncy looks really different from the other two. her face resembles none of them so it was not a surprise to be surprised when Estella introduced juncy to us back then. and then i noticed her smile. Juncy has the sweetest smile!!

the two sisters are always be seen together and they actually look more like friends than sisters. but we knew that the beautiful sisterly bond that they shared remains the same even though now that one of them is married. married to a man that i believe would never cease to bring out the sweetest smile of Juncy.

now, here goes my second attemp.
