Just Cause: Astry & Astry :p

before i lose my mojo and excitement on this batch of portrait i better blog and post them now. procrastinate another day, they probably will end up in the ‘to blog’ folder for another 10 years.

these sisters shared a very unique name, Astry. but they both are of totally different character. each with her own personality. Astry A. (Ana) is bubbly, out-going and fun. While Astry Z. (Azie) is the opposite. she’s the quiet, helpful, soft-spoken and that goes with the flow type. but they share two things in common apart of their first name. they have the kindest soul and giving heart! ❀

Ana and her little princess, Kiera are now residing in China (follow the husband who has been transferred there few months ago). they came back to Labuan just for a short break. Azie on the other hand, will pursue her course to the land down under very soon T____T i'll be losing my helpful assistant. pretty or not? i will surely miss her as a colleague as well as a dear friend.

so, jangan banyak merepek kerana kerepek dah habis.

let's see pretty ladies πŸ˜€

ever sweet Ana πŸ™‚

Astry A.

young and pretty mama

meanwhile, a random shot. hehehe….

things around the compound.

meet Azie, the younger sister.

i wish i have long slim legs like that too.

yummy day

bring it on, sexy!

simply pretty and fierce.

one last ’emo’ shot of Azie.

sisterhood πŸ™‚

smile and the whole world smile with you both πŸ˜€

kindred spirit

how can i resist a shot of their backyard that’s overlooking a lake. it’s where we spent some of our lazy weekends. sure gonna miss those times when leave soon T_____T

the backyard that has served us very very well during weekend chill outs.

and last but not least. a photo that sums up the personality of each of them. my fav!!! πŸ˜€

Astry Z. & Astry A. πŸ™‚

i’m so glad to know, work, play, spending the weekends with this amazing sisters whom i now called friends.

Ana & Azie, i wish nothing but the best to both of you wherever you are. God bless!!

Happy Friday!!

Tuesday Selective Photograph(y)c Thought

just came back from my weekend back home yesterday where my sole purpose was to attend two weddings in a row. saturday was a fren’s (Jess) wedding where he requested my help to document some little scenes of the event. and sunday was a cousin’s (Jessica) where i was a guest but couldnt resist to capture some photos when possible. and i just noticed how their names are almost the same. haha!!

while i was unpacking my petty and humble gears last night i remembered how it all started. from a hobby of taking random pictures with my point and shoot, to stalking photography blogs, lusting at all the beautiful pictures as i browse, teared at photos that touched and moved me, until i finally got my hands on my own first dslr. that was the end of October 2008.

my very first task came less than two months after that, THIS wedding which i did FOC of course. duh!! then some events (mostly church activities) came along. then i received ‘ang pow’ for taking ppl’s weddings. OMG! i got paid!! and one day a more seasoned photog friend suggested me to charge for my service. i went ‘HUH?! how can i charge people when i am not a pro?! i’m just a girl with a big ass camera who know nuts about photography jargon! i dont even know what is White Balance for goodness sake! and what the heck is f-stop and brackets??!!’ my friend shook his head. o.O but i am so glad that i have such wonderful friends who are willing to teach and coach me till today. sometimes we do tutorials via YM or MSN!!! i heart my photog friends la…. seriously. why are they so good?!! *proud* so by the end of 2009 i started to charge *shy* because after few weddings and events i realized how it is not easy to stand (on heels) and carry heavy big ass dslr for long hours. it is a pain!!! not to mention the editing/processing hours after that. but i never really complain because it is what i love to do πŸ™‚ in fact i always eager and look forward to take and edit the photos. at one point i feel that i do my photography stuff more diligently than i do my day job :p sorry boss! seeing beautiful photos make my day!! #truestory

but unlike other more diligent free-lancer, i don’t really ‘market’ myself. as long as i take beautiful photos (to my eyes) i’m good. if there’s a task, i’ll take. as long as it wont clash with my other schedules. sadly this year i had to turn down three potential extra mulah due to such clashing times T___T but i am still happy for them that they found better option. i never pester people to pick me. it is because i know where i stand in this rapidly budding industry. i am no match to other seasoned pro and no better than vastly talented fellow enthusiasts or newbies *low self esteem*. that is why i make sure i never charge as/ higher than those full timer. for me, every person has their own source of income. this industry is their pot of rice. blood and sweat for photography. i honor, respect and appreciate their work and passion. if this is their source of living so be it. i have mine. it’s sufficient. i’m grateful. i’ll remain as i am, a low-keyed free-lance. as long as my ‘client’ is happy with what they see, i’ll be the happiest girl in the world.

on the other hand, i have a personal project that i’m planning to materialize soon. it’s time to take a leap in what i do and to be ready for future plan. stay tune for it πŸ™‚

cheers, peeps!

remember this?! i’ve finally completed the mission. except for Aug. boo!! my travel partner couldnt make it at last minute due to work. i was so tempted to go alone but haihhhh….. i was more worried to make my loved ones worry about me during the vacation to safe my sorry ass!!! iskh!! menyesal!!! T____T but at least i’ve accomplished the rest. and i cannot wait for next year’s travel plan!! *nervous*

that’s it for the traveling department. no more this year!!! unless i’m being sponsored or business related.

as in the photography department, i am sick of landscape already. i am now so itchy to shoot anything other than landscape or any traveling related. so starting from last month i have been asking around if there are people interested hiring free lance. i am so grateful too because there are people approached way earlier this year for my humble service. THANK YOU! but i am aslo free at the moment so I AM UP FOR HIRE!!! any taker?!

woke up earlier than usual this morning hence reaching the office earlier than usual. i think the boys from the car wash shop downstairs were surprised too but they greeted me good morning with their hearty happy voices as usual.

because part of my heart and mind is still in Thailand, i’m wearing this to work today.

dress from night market of Chiang Mai RM18
anklet from Night Bazaar Chiang Mai RM10
denim wedges from Summit RM49.90

be blessed, peeps!

Abisadj + Abigail + Acho Prince: Just Cause

the sun was kind that day. it wasnt too hot yet the light and its ray cast upon the earth with such beautiful and yummy glow. they came all the way from kuching for our cousin’s wedding as the flower girls and one nuisance (the boy). since their arrival, our house has never been so noisy…. they can never stop talking. asked too many questions and played with all my makeups T.T i have promised them that i’ll bring them out for a photoshoot. a photoshoot. not shopping. and the eldest kept reminding me the playground in boulevard mall. i didnt promise for the latter. because as i mentioned i promised a photoshoot. they put on their attires but still not ready to go. one was still fixing the jigsaw puzzles from the night before. one was still excitedly trying to beat my score on my psp. and one kept reminding me to to boulevard. again i didnt want to bind any promises because a promise made with a kid is like a covenant (wth) that you can never ever break. so i chose the easiest answer. ‘we’ll see’ T__T at the same time i clicked on these pretties and i just discovered a potential Guess or GAP kids model. my very own cousins πŸ™‚

you got it yee.... πŸ™‚

dreams can come true....

bring it on girl!!!

and at the end we didnt go to boulevard much to their disappointment T____T

Because A Phone Call Is Just Not Enough

Filed under: Hot & Zesty People — lv @ 5:54 pm
Tags: , , ,

the other night as i was sipping my hot milk by the pier overlooking the many boats docking at the harbour with robbie williams at the background i received a very unexpected call. the caller id was “T Mie”. that’s my youngest aunt. but as i said hello my heart leaped with joy upon hearing that chirpy voice….

all conversations were in mandarin sometimes with a mixture of bahasa melayu.

abisadj: ong che che…. how are you?! what are you doing?!! *ahhww…. my heart melt like butter on a hot pan*
me: good. kenapa kamu call ong che che ni?! mana mummy?! why do you simply use mummy’s phone to call?! *so unappreciative :p*

abisadj: i miss you lah. i am thinking of you so i call you lor…. *ahhwwww*
me: really? ok now let me call u back dont waste mummy’s credit or else…

so i called her back.

abisadj: why do you need to call me back? i have a lot of credit balance….
me: dont simply call using your mum’s phone. later she’ll faint after checking on the balance.

abisadj: i can use house phone also. no need for you to call back.
me: save that for emergency ok. so what are you doing? where’s mummy and daddy?

abisadj: mummy went out. daddy working. we all (she and siblings) stay at home with shannon che che (my other cousin). amor is drawing. you know lah she always drawing all the time. yang yang playing.
me: i see. have your front tooth grow?
abisadj: so so (i sense a doubting tone)

me: how are you all? have you been a good girl at school?
abisadj: yes. i got A for my english. not just A. it’s an A+!!
me: ok. what about maths?
abisadj: my mathematic is good too. bm also A.
me: good girl. keep that up!!

abisadj: mummy said you work very hard. dont work until late laaa….. *heart melt again*
me: *cough* mana ada?! your dad also work until late bah… same lah…

abisadj: i cant wait for school holidays…. three more weeks leh… i want to go to miri but you are not there… lai che che only…
me: come to labuan then. u want?
abisadj: what is in labuan?! is there big shopping mall?! *fainted*
me: sadly, there’s nothing here….
abisadj: eeee…. so boring….. *T___T*

me: what’s amor drawing?
abisadj: dunno…. not done yet.
me: pass the phone to her. i wanna speak to her.

amor’s turn.

me: hello there sweetie… what are you drawing?
abigail: i’m drawing ong che che… *ahhww…. sayang*
me: why do you draw me?
abigail: sebab kamu baik…. *LOL!!!!! suddenly bm!!*
me: finish your drawing then ask ah yee to take the picture of it ok?
abigail: ok. i’m drawing you watching tv.
me: we’ll see… now hand back to ah yee…

back to abisadj.

abisadj: ong che che, when are you getting married?! *fainted!!*
me: *LOL* just you wait ok…. will let you all know and you two will be flower girls again ok?!
abisadj: ok. i want to be your flower girl. i already told that koko (The Boyfriend) last time. (i can hear her giggling))
me: yalayalaaaa… remember to take a photo of amor’s drawing k.
abisadj: why? u want me to take the photo and then tag you on facebook is it?
me: *bumped* (because that was exactly my intension and was about to teach her how) u know how to do that?
abisadj: i know…!!!! *kids nowaday*

the conversation continued with some more nonsense and with me ended it with some lame advice eg: dont play with fire, sharp object or try commiting suicide by jumping out the windows.

and that unexpected call made my day….

but that was just not enough for me. i might be in their thoughts but they are in my heart. and better still i have them in still image that i can look at anytime i like. so here are my three little nuggets!!

my 8y.o fierce (i mean it) young cousin, abisadj.

sweetest thing. 6y.o abigail.

Melbourne: The Yarra Valley Wineries

before you continue please return to my previous melbourne post HERE. because i had some time in between my hectic work yesterday and feel obliged to share some informative info to all of you so that at least you learn something from this humble blog of mine. so go read about the fun facts about The Little Penguins there (which i actually got from Wikipedia but whatevs just read ok.

now, i know you are getting sick with this. i promise this is the last (but i think there’s one more. pls dont abandon my blog. please… )

it was our last day. but our flight was a midnight flight so we had a full day for another tour around the country. we chose to go for the wineries at the yarra valley because we were thirsty :p and the weather decided to act gloomy. it drizzled, it rained, and it was freaking cold!!! so what’s better than to warm up with some errr….. booze?! and some cheese. owh…. and some lurrrrve with other friendly visitors?!

but before that we stopped at menzie’s creek to pick up some of the coach passengers who went on the old steam train called puffing billy. although we didn’t go for the ride but we had time to take some photos with it. and i know i’ve posted this picture before but it deserves double appearance. so here it is!!

meet the legendary Puffing Billy!!

the eskimo and Puffing Billy!! =.=

our first winery was a place called Fergusson Winery and it was our lunch stop. being a sakai i thought we’ll see those beautiful romantic wineries like those photos we usually see with fresh grapes all ready to be plucked and pop into the mouth. until we saw this…..

errr..... this is all you can see during the winter T____T

at The Fergusson

starters.... it was so yummy i almost ask for more T__T

qeueing for our grilled pork. that's the daughter of the owner. very friendly πŸ˜‰

tadaa.... my greedy portion! :p u cant see the meat it was underneath.... hehe...

the porks were placed at the fireplace and ready to be served.....

and here are some of their wines.

mmmm..... mmmmm.....

our second winery was at Dominique Portet.

it rained earlier and it was freezing cold we cant wait to get inside but i managed to pull a smie.

this is how it looks like inside

the wines that we tasted here.... πŸ™‚

yay! to our third and last winery of the day. Domaine Chandon. for me it was the best one. i miss……

ya... beautiful, no?!

while waiting for our tour guide i wandered around the place. it was a beautiful place indeed.

cute looking building at one corner of the place

the front part of he place 'star'ning πŸ™‚

ahhhh.... cannot wait to taste!! :p

muka tidak sabar =o=

type of oaks used to make the barrels also influence the taste of the wines.... (as far as i remember)

tour around and listened attentively (sometimes) to the tourguide.... and u know what i was doing :p

with new friends from brazil and korea πŸ™‚

we were served with their expensive sparkling wine along with local cheese and fresh bread while soaking up the beautiful view of the winery from their greenpoint room….

this photo doesnt do the justice for the real deal. i tell u it was divine...... *salivating all over again* i miss..... T.T

remember the name. it's one of the best!!

breathtaking.... view overlooking the winery....

the winery.....

so last but not least….

CHEERS!!!!! πŸ™‚

(while watching a three-hour hindi movie Hum Tum and now Junior Master Chef Australia at the same time) so i’d really appreciate some blog loving from you by dropping some comments here *shameless* kidding :p (ok, serious!)
