Children Affair: Baby Elson, Ern Ern and Esther

first of all this series is totally not related with the sneak peak in my previos post :p sorry i main tipu cos i am so butt lazy T__T but i did mention ‘i got photos coming up’, right? so take this one for the time being ok. (ceh, as if lah ppl so anticipate for my photos perasan max!)

ok cut those crap now let’s go for the main topic. so my girl fren s.fong just gave birth to a beautiful healthy bb boy last month. healthy here means massive!! 4.3 kg ok!! and early this month was his Fool Moon and we (me and other 2 girl frens) went to visit her and the little. ahh!! awesome!!

in the chinese tradition when a baby turned one month old, a ceremony is held to celebrate his/her first Full Moon. this coincides with the end of the mother’s confinement period, and both mother and baby are formally introduced to the relatives and friends for the first time and they will come to give their blessings and gifts to the new baby, and traditional treats like ang ku kui, mee sua and red eggs are served to the guests. i love mee sua!!

chicken soup with wine to be eaten with mee sua. in chinese tradition mee sua is for longevity (my spelling correct or not?)

Traditional cakes and eggs, dyed red to symbolise luck and blessings are given out to relatives and friends. Eggs are chosen as they represent fertility and their round shapes symbolise harmony. It is believed that if you have a boy, you give out an odd number of eggs, and if you have a girl, you give out an even number of eggs. (info from http://www.babycenter.com.my) ^^
