30

[UPDATED]

when you enter another decade of your life how did you cope with it? i’m happy but i’m also a little bit confuse and…. in denial. kns! i have resisted and refrained to make a big fuss about it but part of me have waited so long to blog about it. this phase. this transition of age group. today, a month and four days of being in the 25-30 or sometimes 30-35 age group i finally decided to shake off the delusional issue of being forever 25+. blame it on CNY. during friends gathering i’m the only unmarried girl in the group T___T (KS doesnt count cos he is a guy) my girlfriends are either married, with kids or expecting babies (one popping out next month on Valentine’s Day! woot!) and seeing them worrying and take their child as main consideration every single time before making any decision made me worry too O.O” now who’s the boss already? the parents or the kids?! *confuse* my friends’ children calling me ‘aunty’ and worst, just 3 days ago my cousin brother got married at the age of 23!!! i will always remember he said to my cousin sister (who is also married) ‘i cannot wait for kak ong, who ask her dont want to marry? so i kawen first lah’ LOL!!! made me realized how ‘old’ i am and how left behind i am in the relationship department although i can say that mine stand the test of time and distance the longest! what is wrong with me?! sigh!! that’s that. the end. ok next.

but good thing is i am still eligible to receive ang pow!! muahahahahahaaa!!! so anyway, all is well. i’m not complaining much la just that you know it sometimes get into you and you get emo semacam.

so since it’s the 30th day of the year, imma blog about the 30 things i did in the span of one year of my 29 until the day i turned 30 last month (which is last year). brace yourself.

1. my 29th bithday was celebrated with a surprise cake from my youth group friends during their visit to our christmas open house (also on my birthday) before i leave for Taipei the next day.

friends and family 😀

2. went to Taiwan with my bestie, Scarlet who was 5 months preggie that time. count down and celebrated new year 2011 at Taipei 101 and then visited the Taipei Flora Expo.

Taiwan 100 years anniversary ROC 2011 New Year countdown.

Taipei Flora Expo 2011

3. visited Hualien and met fellow Mirian in our tour group.

Hualien

the two dudes are fellow Mirian and a mother-daughter team from Sg.

4. family trip to Manila in Feb. and our house got broken into T___T

jeepney!! only in The Philippines.

5. passed the test of eating ‘Balut’. it tastes surprisingly good. can join Fear Factor Challenge already.

6. went for a relaxing gateway to Bali with Jane in March.

in Ubud

7. got my Giraffes (finally!) from Ubud and made new friend with a friendly local girl called Nami.

bought a family of girrafes. not the ducks ok :p

new friend 🙂

8. went for a long awaited trip to Vietnam with Jane in April.

typical morning activity in Hanoi.

9. traveled on a sleeping cabin on a train ride for the first time and trekked a total of 10 hours in Sapa, Hanoi.

sharing cabin with a friendly French couple.

Sapa, Hanoi. where you'll still see the natives wearing their traditional costumes everyday.

10. stayed in a junk for the first time at Ha Long Bay!

11. mesmerized by the breathtakingly beautiful Ha Long Bay!

Ha Long Bay

12. Chu Chi Tunnels at Ho Chi Minch.

13. went for a workover job for the first time on Trident 16 rig. of all the site jobs that are assign to us, workover job will be the last type of job that will be given to me because it is a tough job. tough means 24 hours on standby :p usually the guys will be given priority to go for it first. but that time was a desperate case where all engineers were unavailable due to heavy work schedule so no choice i had to go!! T___T but actually i was fine with it just that i had to miss my Osaka flight!!!! horror i tell you!! thank goodness i was flying MAS and with the help of high ranking insider i managed to change my date where MASHoliday is not eligible to do so initially. Phew!! ok where was i? owh…. Trident 16!

rig's helideck

14. went to Osaka and be a kid again at Universal Studio Japan. whee!!

Universal Studio Japan!! 😀

15. visit to Osaka will not complete if you dont visit Kyoto. stayed at a ryokan. the japanese traditional bedroom. and also stayed in a mix dorm for the first time. and it is so clean that its toilet almost had me a heart attack!

ryokan 🙂

aiya!!! i actually wanted to upload a video of the toilet that nearly made me to experience heart attack but dunno why here cannot support AVI?! how ah??

16. turned into a geisha and visited the Kiyomizu temple.

fake geisha :p

Kiyomizu Temple, Kyoto

17. attended my 1st wedding of the year – my cousin Melissa’s in June.

their wedding theme colour was green hence the green apple as favors 🙂

18. went to Chiang Mai with Jane (again) in July and had a thrilling experience of Flights of The Gibbons.

i think that's Jane there. the ziplines is so long that you cannot wait to reach to the other end. a whole new experience of flying though the canopies.

19. visited the White Temple of Chiang Rai.

Wat Rong Khun, Chiang Rai

20. had to returned a day earlier to Malaysia from Thailand due to work purposes – attend ISORD 2011. which also turned out to be a part leisure part training trip at Langkawi. the last time i was there was 16 years ago.

21. just one day after returning from Langkawi, i packed my bag again for Perhentian Island. this time with a group of friends. both the bf’s and mine 🙂

little olsen and me floating 🙂 happy day!

22. my gf got married!! to a Korean guy!! now i really really cannot say ‘she also not yet ma…. why rush?’ the usual excuse when people ask The Question 😡

cmee + martin.

23. went to Phuket with cousin and my 2 other girls 🙂 was a truly inspiring and blessed trip this one.

the bottom right photo with our 2 funny entertainer onboard our cruise. suddenly our guide and waiter turned into 'wonder girls' and 'gloria gaynor'. LOL!!LOL!!! l

24. Organized a fund raising dinner with a Rock-ish theme. but it was a super stressful one it can be the down-est moment in my whole 2011.

handmade paper weight made of rock and my cousin came all the way from miri to support 🙂

25. joined the church for outreach ministry to Trusan Laut. was treated 1st class hospitality. we were spoiled by so much yummy local food!!!!!!

26. attended more friends’ wedding. *yawn*

my 2nd universal studio in a year o.O

one of my bucket list!! to do rock climbing. of all the places i have to do it in USS. posing with my cert and my young instructor 🙂

Rain Oculus at Marina Bay Sands and chocolate lover ;p

28. became official photographer for D&G’s wedding. yay!

30. Climbed and reached the peak of Mount Kinabalu on my 30th Birthday!!! win!!!

What I Ate in Jakarta

Tags: , ,

this is a waaaaaaaaaaay toooooo outdated post. like. hold it….. FOUR YEARS AGO!!!! yes! that loooong. i have planned to blog about my Jakarta once i started migrated to this blog address but alas…. well u know what happened :p so today as i was in my process of selecting photos of my Vietnam trip i got too bored and tired cos it seems never ending so i browsed through my old traveling folder and boom i stumbled upon a sub-folder which i named ‘Food’ in my Jakarta folder. what a perfect timing because i was hungry like a wolf when i looked at all of the food this morning and hence decided to post them here just so my Jakarta trip could see the light.

all photos were taken using my point and shoot because i havent own a dslr back then but that’s not important so feast yourself with all the food with your eyes! :p

#1

traditional kuih-muih or deserts served to us upon arrival at our host's house. mostly made of sticky rice and coconut milk.

#2

Bakso - meatball soup with mee hoon / rice noodles

#3

another Bakso. Yum!

#4

Jus Sirsak! Soursop Juice. so far indonesia offers the best original soursop juice i ever tried. u can taste and feel the fiber lines of the fruit with your tounge.

#5

this is breakfast at our host's house every single day....

#6

nasi lemak

#7

traditional delicacies

#8

hot and spicy chilli paste. yes. breakfast.

#9

iced strawberries. fresh and straight out from the freezer so when u bite on it, it feels like u are eating fresh strawberry icecream without the cream... u get me?.

this next one has a funny story. sold by roadside vendors and sometimes can be seen inside the mall sold by those small2 stalls. there’s a rule in drinking this. once you finish with the drink, you have to RETURN the bottles back to the vendor. so that means you cannot go too far away from the stall. so, what we did the 1st time, we paid and walked away. until we heard the vendor came chasing and shouted at us to ask us to return his bottles. hahaha!!! so we had to drink out Teh Botol quickly there and then and returned them to him. haiiihhh….

#10

Tel Botol - Bottled Tea.

#11

me with vytha, our new friend 🙂 in Mangga Dua Mall. she has a boutique there selling children costumes. very cute!

if at our host’s house we only eat clean and fresh and healthy food, but with vytha and her then fiance (now husband) we got to try their local street foods. that included the bakso (above) and this next one. this place that they brought us i reckon is a famous street stall because we had to wait for earlier customers to finish eating to get seats and while we ate, there were already new customers waited for us to leave. stress!!!

#12

Pecel Lele - Fried Catfish with white rice accompanied with kangkung ( morning glory vege) and come together with hot and spicy chilli as sambal. aihhh!!!! it's finger linkin' good, ok!!!

to complete our finger lickin’ good Pecel Lele set, we ordered what Jakarta is so good for – fresh fruit juice!

#13

Avocado Juice with chocolate.

#14

back at host's house, more local traditional kuih muih the next morning.

#15

#16

i love this!!!! banana with gula melaka with sprinkle of grated coconut (or is it kerisik?) as dessert 😀

#17

haaa!! this is curry puff eaten together with raw chilli!!! yes 1st time saw but no harm to try. pedas juga but i am fine with it 🙂

#18

honestly, i totally forgot what this is 😦

#19

Our yet another meriah breakfast @.@ at host's house

#20

sorry the photo is shaky but i just wanna tell u that although it looked so unappetizing it taste surprisingly GOOD!! but i forgot what it called but know there's chicken inside *look down*

#21

by now i really cant wait for this post to end. posting all these food pics is making me hungry!!

#22

more local kuih

remember i mentioned that our host is very health conscious?! one morning he made us fresh Tumeric Juice!! which after a sip all our faces turned like this – >__<! we saw he added some lemon juice, and honey into the blender machine together with the raw tumeric. he then proceeded explaining to us the benefits of it eg: boost immune system, good for liver and to those who love singing (like me :p) soothe the throat. so we obliged T__T

#23

#24

one of the common lunch set at food court.

#25 last but not least….

airport version of Pecel Lele

yay! done!! finally!!! now i can go for my lunch.

we were so blessed for the excellent hospitality of our host, Pak Freddie Leong and Ibu Ria and family. this family not only had offered us their place and food and rides (with their personal drivers) but also demonstrated the heart of a servant and love from our dear Lord despite being so much blessed with worldly needs. so did Miss Vytha and Pak Henry who understood the heart of younger generation like us who had brought us around to experience their street food.

::EDITED TO ADD::
my advice is if u go to Jakarta, dont miss trying their fresh fruit juice. you’ll never regret it.

be blessed, peeps!

I’m not dead, I’m just lazy

Ola! The title says it all. I’m just plain lazy nowadays that I don’t even log in to this pitiful blog *pats blog lovingly* i have tried many times to update but alas once i just about to start words failed me. i had my writer’s block and i rather browse through other blogs and wander aimlessly on my FB. and for your info i have a training materials need to be done a.s.a.p but look at me. blogging instead. it’s just so frustrating that when i am suppose to do one thing, i will do another. sigh! there have been many things going around me since my last update. some very heart breaking and confusing and stressful and eat-all-my-energy things and situation that I wish no one will ever experience. I almost ALMOST experience a regret of a life time if not for some miracle. MIRACLE! I kid you not. and i am forever thankful for that one HUGE chances God has given to the situation. really. if wasnt for it i will live the rest of my life with regret IT. IS. THAT. SCARY. SERIOUSLY. i wished for more time. but who am I to rebel His will. when the time’s up. one must go. nothing in this world could stop His timely time. ~ that day, i learned regret is the worst feeling a human could ever feel.

then i waited in silence. i knew. you knew what’s gonna happend next. we knew what’s the question next. but we chose to stay silent with a lump in our throath in every conversations. then i realised this is what we have in common. escape. ~ that day, i learned that silence has sound it can be the loudest cry it is deafening.

enough with cryptic emo writing. so i returned from my most recent trip to Bali. it was a great relaxing trip with my gf jane. one of the most random and short decision on impulse trip i ever had. i just wanted to get away and to see Bali again. and to buy my giraffes! ~ that day, i learned that ignorance is bliss!!

a sneak peek.

yes. we returned with a beautiful sun-kissed skin :p

CMee: Just Cause

i had a hunch things will not gonna be the same that day. it wont be a good sight and it will be a very unconfortable feelings later on. i sat at our usual seat of the school bus. with our almost identical purple school bag and my gigantic water bottle.

my heart skipped a beat faster as the bus drew nearer to her house. i saw her waiting in front of the house. with our almost identical purple school bag minus a gigantic water bottle. finally the moment i dreaded….

she stepped inside. dark faced. walked briskly passed me without even a slight glance. i felt my face burning with shame as she sat two seats apart from ‘our’ seat. now everyone in the school bus knew that we were having a major BFF crisis. yeah…. EVERYONE in the bus looked at us with knowing eyes and dare not disturb or ask anything….. even uncle sim the bus driver looked at us at one kind trough his rear view even with his dark vintage sunglasess on, i knew he could see the tension too. that day, the ride to school was unbearably long….

but that never stop the camaraderie. disputes happen in all relationships. even in marriages. so as girl friends’. it is one element that makes the bond even ‘friendlier’. even if their attitudes irk us so much, they are still the one that we come to when there are new gossips around or when the blouse that they like are on sales! we didnt want to lose that company and the silly laughters together with them.

as much as i love the name Zoe but i prefer calling her cmee here. cmee is one of the longest friend that i knew i had and still have. we had a history of talking the whole night away until the 1st glimps of the sun rose and the ah ma next door was ready to go out to sell her veges and we turned into zombies afterwards. sleepovers with senseless chats. unnecassary suppers just because we didnt want to go home yet. shoppings that we didnt need when we were still in the ‘student’ category but just because it was mega sales we had to splurge! the friend who doesnt mind to purchase identical blouse / tops / pants or even underwares T_T because we just have to love the same thing T_T and the excuse will always be “it’s ok, we are not in the same place anyway! there’s a freakin wide ocean separating us. mai3 er2 yi3 la4!!”

as the years go by and the different environment and the georaphical factors we cannot deny that we were slowly slumping into the edge of being more ignorance towards each other to the danger of just being mere aquaintances T_T we dont share too many secrets anymore. we might not be able to be as close as we used to be but close enough to go for a budget holiday together and share a freakin’ single bed 🙂

we found this piece of ‘artwork’ outside of our Inn in Kuta and i didnt want to waste anything :p

guys love her. but she's taken!! nyeh... nyeh... nyeh... ^.^

Bali: statues, monuments and colourful streets….

If you ask me what is the distinctive thing about bali that i remember after two and half month have passed? it would be their fervent for rock statues and their culture that is still held strong by the local folks…. the monuments were outstanding. the people there were one of a kind and steadfast to their beliefs despite the island is being over commercialised and too business-like nowadays. The folks still wear their traditional costume (especially the ladies young and old) to the temple with offerings in their basket which were carried on their head!! you will hardly see a house without a business signboard or anything to sell in front of it. be it a salon or simply an eating place, there must be a business going on. in ubud, almost every single house was transformed into a shop selling all kinds of local products. these shop houses were their home!

Ubud is well knows of its painting and wood sculptures. the wooden sculptures or furnitures with good woods that we buy in Msia (esp in Miri, Swk) for RM400 or more can be bought at RM150 there….. hisk!! talking bout this make me pissed!! cos i forgot to buy my Giraffes!!! T_T huhuhuhuuu……

ok now, stop crapping. here are some of the unique monuments and the many random shots that i captured along the way on the streets of Bali. u can scroll down very fast if u like :p

sunset in Tanah Lot….

we chose Tanah Lot instead of Jimbaran for sunset view on our 3rd day in Bali. and we definitely didnt regret it at all.

mass of people didnt bother me at all. i could only gawped in awe of the majestic creation of the mighty hand of God…

the rock formation was a unique shape with temple on it known as Pura Tanah Lot which they said during high tide it will look like a floating temple in the middle of the sea. well, it depends on where you stand though. ppl from almost around the world were there.

mass of people didnt bother me at all. i could only wish the picturesque view wouldn’t slip pass my memory and be able to flip through the still images for many years to come…

the cilipadi guide to Mystical Bali – Part 2

Tags: , , ,

Let’s continue on with the last part of this ala 101 guide and just get it done fast.

Day 3:
We were still in Ubud. CMee woke up complaining that she didn’t sleep well previous night. Said she heard funny sounds like ‘crickk…..crickk…. crickkk’ the whole night. Hmm…. how come i didnt hear anything? Of course not, i slept like a dead! Whatever! It was a bright morning and we were eager for our next activities of the day. Not until i freaked out when i saw this fella….

freaking monkeys loitering around our hotel roof tops.... and CMee blamed them for her bad night sleep.

freaking monkeys loitering around our hotel roof tops.... and CMee blamed them for her bad night sleep.

Did i mention that there’s a Monkey Forest in Ubud which is only walking distance from where stayed? We asked the local folks what was in store inside but nothing interest us cos all u could see are monkeys which might attack u if u don’t give them banana and wild deers…. what? That’s it?! so we scratched Monkey Forest out of our list. Monkeys?! I’ve seen too many in Uni last time. And not to mention i fight with bunch of monkeys everyday in the office / home. Some more monkeys?! Gah!! And wild deer? Why would i waste Rupiah just to see wild deer??! Takda hasil!

We had our breakfast slowly while ppl-watching. Frankly, the breakfast in the previous inn were better but whatever we finished everything.

our breakfast. they serve lime with every dishes dunno why.

Jeng.. Jeng… this is the most anticipated part (at least by us) The Spa!!! yohooO!! It’s like u cannot claim u’ve been to Bali if u haven’t been to any of the spa. We walked to the spa centre which we’ve made appointment with the day before. There were many spa boutiques around Ubud so choose whichever u prefer but may i suggest you to make a little research and read some reviews beforehand. The one we went was called Zen Spa. KSiong heard about it from reviews in internet. I must commend he did his homework very well! It was good indeed!! 🙂 guess how much?? Rp150,000.00 for one and fourty-five minutes royal treatment!! that was about RM50++ so cheap!! if in Myy, no RM300++ means no spa ok! *teary eyes* Me and CMee requested for the couple room cos we were chatty and didnt want to waste any time for the latest gossips! Haha!! no la, joking. But… we did talk about the latest hot topic about the Manohara girl…. together with our two very chatty masseuses too. hehe…

ZEN SPA.... highly recommended! :-)

Me & CMee did a little shopping at Pasar Ubud before we return to Kuta. Bargain! Bargain! Bargain! Remember to reduce the price to half of its originals ok. While the two of us did that, KSiong went for Babi Guling for the second time by himself. Talk about guys!! We hired a driver cum tour guide to send us back to Kuta. A much much more comfy SUV this time 🙂 we checked into a different hotel this time which i’ve forgotten the name of it. This one was much expensive but lots lots cheaper than the rest on the same street just opposite the beach.

We had two choices of where to go next and could only choose one due to the time constraint. It was either Tanah Lot or Jimbaran. We decided to go for the former cos most of the local folks had suggested that one to us too. Our guide, Dewa was a gem! He waited for us to finish with our KFC session then drove like a F1 driver to make sure we catch the sunset just in time.

We then found out that things in Tanah Lot were a lot cheaper than those in Ubud or Kuta. Me and CMee shopped like there’s no tomorrow :p CMee was crazy! She bought 9 pairs of flipflops at Rp. 10,000.00 for three pairs. so girl friends, get some for ur girl friends or sisters or cousins or ladies colleagues. it’s the perfect gift with fine beads embroideries nicely wrapped in transparent lace-bag. How cute is that?

We panicked for a second when we couldn’t find Dewa when we finished in Tanah Lot. But he has sharp eyes. He saw us and sent us safely back to Kuta. We then went for foot massage where i was so regretted of choosing that particular massage centre cos the whole boutique was filled with that odd and dizzying aroma. It smelt like a bad combination of aromatic fragrance with their offering essence plus smoke came out of it. I don’t know but i just couldn’t stand the smell that i had to cover my face with the mask and to add sarcasm to it with my cardigan covering half of my face and tied it tightly making me looked like a freaking terrorist! Who cares. My life was at stake! KNS!!

I continued wearing my mask to dinner until i had to take it off to eat. Guess who i saw during dinner? KNS = Kenny Sia! Together with his blogger buddies. I recognised two of them, Cindy the first MDG and Cheesie.
That night, we wanted to go to one of the bars but i felt lazy and tired. Furthermore KSiong has to wake up very early the next day cos his flight was very early in the morning.

Again, we went to bed early!

Day 4:
KSiong left early. Me and Cmee slept some more. Realise that we haven’t set foot to the beach? So just for the sake of it, we strolled down the sandy beaches before breakfast. Took some decent photos and that was it! No surfing, no wet clothes 😉

After checking out, we then started our last minute shopping to the shops nearby and very impromptu stopped at at one tattoo shop to get our temporary tattoos (we both had two prints :p) and corn-rows braided hair (me only).

Things I didn’t get to do;
1) Sunset in Jimbaran
2) Nusa Dua
3) The Kechak Dance

Notice that i didnt go to any of the night life scene? notice we slept early every night? Heeee…. if u are a party person sorry i am a disappointment to you. i don’t club. I hate the cigarette smoke that sticks on my hair and clothes. Say whatever u like, yes i am living a mundane life like a nerdy meds student. So wat?! Why waste money on such blaring noise and for some maybe a hang over the next day? I prefer my beauty sleep and pray before that… and… more spree :p

but this is the closest i could get to that though….

the cilipadi guide to Mystical Bali – Part 1

Heeee…. ok i’ve been playing around with time quite long, huh!! so i guess before i decided to totally toss the idea of posting bali, i might as well do it now. plus, some frens are goin there soon. so Peter *waives* this is for you… treat… treat… LOL!! (but with the bombing goin on and the swine flu pandemic, are u still going?) anyway, i’ve posted most of the photos in my fb but some friends just prefer living in the cave (kidding!) so Jane *waives* this is also for you since u missed the trip…. (aiyo, register fb la…)

The Friends and i have been dying for a budget gateway for eons. God bless Tony for his budget airlines, so like most kiasu Malaysian (or Singaporean) we checked the cheapest return ticket that we could possibly find until we finally got one really cheap deal of RM94.40 return ticket KL-Bali-KL each. wohOO!!! RM10 of luggage handling included ok. BUT… but… the angry part was that since i am in Myy, i had to fly over to KL and that return ticket cost me a total of RM470++… @_@ So now u know flying overseas is cheaper than flying domestic!! KNS!! (so that’s for the my first tips – always check for promotion fare and plan ahead!!)

There were supposed to be four of us but to cut a long story short, Jane was so sick with high fever upon arrival from overseas three days before we were schedule to depart (was suspected of carrying H1N1) so she had to pull off… sigh!! leaving only three of us to continue on with the adventure (konon). So let’s start with the things that you need to pack / bring:
Passport!!
• Currencies, about RM1,000 – RM1,400 (should be more than enough for a 4D3N stay, Budget! Budget! do the currency exchange in Msia)
• Light cool comfy clothing (it is always summer in bali)
• Good walking shoes or sandals
• Slippers for chilling by the beach or pool
• Swim wear / Beach wear (even if u don’t know how to swim, just bring!)
• Sunscreen (very important!)
• Sunglasses or hat or cap (u will need these!!)
• Towel (or you can use the ones from hotel)
• Camera (important too, especially me!!)
• Medication (just in case)
• Book / iPod / PSP (I brought Sony :p)
• Extra bag to pack your shopping (ladies… be smart!)
• Toiletries (Cmee brought hydrating mask…. O_o)
• Universal Adapter (very important! the plugs they use in Indonesia are very different from those we usually use in Msia. Lesson I learned from my previous visit to Jakarta)
• Hygienic Face Mask (H1N1!!)

Additional reminder: if u should / must call family or anyone back home, just buy a temporary prepaid sim card over there. that way would be cheaper. u dont want to pay a month’s bill for a total of one hour (overall for the whole period there) phone call alone like me!! T_T my usual monthly bill doesnt even cost that much! *grumpy*

Day 1:

I met up with Cmee in LCCT. KSiong’s went a day earlier due to some reasons (don’t have to be so detail here) so we’re gonna meet him in bali. our flight was delayed by two hours. and the journey took three hours. by the time the two of us reached Denpasar airport it was almost 8p.m. =.=” as instructed by KSiong, we took the BlueBird taxi to our accommodation in Kuta. always take the BlueBird taxi!! we were curious to see our place of the night not until we saw the room!! haha!! it was so unexpected and was really out of our imagination that we were gonna stay in such inn. but, it was a budget holiday so budget it was!! surely be a backpacker’s choice. after registering ourselves we went out and started to hunt for food and we opted for one chinese restaurant called Nan Xiang which was only few steps from the Hard Rock Hotel.

see.. not only us wear this the ladies over there also very protective and kiasi like us :p

we slept early that night. too tired!

Day 2:
I woke up very early cos i wanted to look at the inn in broad day light and to take photo of it. we couldn’t really see anything the previous night except for that ‘odd lady’ on the wall. Spooky u know if u look at her at night… eee….. the place was decorated with bamboos hence the name Bamboo Inn, with many antics and wooden / rock statues around. i saw the inn keeper performed some rituals by burning offerings to the statues and put flowers on every of them… errrmm…. basically he put flowers almost everywhere included on KSiong’s rented bike! ohya, our inn cost us only RM40++/ night and shared by the two ladies. So cheap!! and it came with breakfast and the breakfast was very filling too!! not bad aei!!

once checked out, we took a taxi to send us to Ubud which was around one and a half hour ride. tiring owh some more the taxi’s air-cond was like broken down!! KNS!! then we found this place for our accommodation for the night called Ubud Inn. We were torn between this one with the one next door for some reasons. The rate was supposed to be USD60/night, but somehow succeeded to negotiate it down to USD50 by pretending to walk away to the next door’s and they had to run after us and surrendered. Whee!! and we paid in Rp. 500,000.00 which was cheaper when converted in RM (cheaper by RM6 only :p). talk about kiamsiap but remember the theme? budget… budget!

we rented a jeep for Rp150,000.00/ day. u can opt for motorbikes or bicycles too which were far far cheaper. but since me and Cmee will melt under the sun so Ksiong had to gave in :p

top: our rented jeep below: the driver :p

before we start our exploration, we filled our stomach at the infamous eatery place called Babi Guling Ibu Oka…. (to my muslim friends, sorry i just have to put this up :p)

nyum.. nyum... must try... must try... :p

nyum.. nyum... must try... must try... :p

And then a brief visit to an old castle just opposite.

they look like a couple here.... hehe... btw, KSiong is single and he can sing :p the old castle at the back.

since we had a jeep we decided to go a bit further. we went up to Kintamani. KSiong the driver, me the map reader (which was totally useless) and CMee the ‘tai-tai’ sitting at the backseats. the journey was around 20 minutes and it got colder by kilometre cos it was a highland. when we reached there we were greeted by a bunch of kids selling postcards…. this is where u have to act very cold cos once u stop, look and hold the postcards, they will pester u around whenever u go even though u already said u don’t want….. don’t be like me… i’m soft-hearted T_T I gave in when the girl keep saying it was for her pocket money to go to school…. aihh… couldn’t stand looking at her sun-burned sad-looking face i gave her Rp10000 for 10 postcards which i then realised i lost them when i unpacked my luggage T_T so Cell *waives*, this is why i didn’t send u postcard. huhuhu….

on our way back to Ubud we stopped for a photo session at this breathtaking terrace paddy field. It was the harvesting season that time that’s why u see more yellows 🙂

Dusk, we went to another recommended eating place called Bebek Bengil Dirty Duck Diner (BBDDD). The restaurant was highly maintained with expensive deco. I really liked the various settings of the dining area. Since we didn’t do any reservation, we were seated at the furthest end of the restaurant overlooking the paddy field. ok why they name it Dirty Duck Diner? The story goes like this (scroll down if u want to skip this part) the story goes like this…. once upon a time, the owner and staffs were getting ready with the opening of the new restaurant but they have yet to think of a suitable name for it. until one day when they were scratching their heads for the name suddenly a group of ducks with their dirty webbed-feets came in from the nearby paddy field and danced around leaving dirty footprints on their tables and all over the place. with that, the owner came up with the name ‘Dirty Duck Diner’ cos they were their very 1st customers. phew!! wat a story… u can read that in their menu book.

Bebek Bangil Dirty Duck Diner. No it wasnt that dirty after all!! and the duck was like so boney.... served with spicy sauces

After dinner we romped around the town in our rugged jeep. we still have an hour before the owner came to collect it. we wanted to go for a foot massage but all massage centre were closing soon and it was only 9.30p.m. so we drove around sight-seeing and ppl-watching.

Top: a place called The Green Room. we thought it was some bar or something but we didnt enter. Bottom: Ubud town at precicely 8.49p.m most of the shops were closing already....

FYI, Ubud town sleeps earlier than Kuta. We went back to the hotel and play ‘monopoly’ a.k.a splitting our bills with millions of Rupiahs. Things we did every end of the day and it was fun (^.^)V

We slept even earlier that night!! haha!!

So that’s a wrap for day 1 and day 2. I actually planned to post up the whole four days activities but i myself am so sleepy while typing this….. zzzzZZZZ….

i live to learn and i learn to live with it

Be blessed, people!
